IRONMAN AUSTRALIA TOUR 2009
Race date: April 5, 2009
The tour of Ironman Australia begins on Wednesday March 31, 2009 and ends on Tuesday April 7, 2009. Each day the Tri Travel team will assist athletes and partners with course orientation, training sessions, race registration and also provide informative sessions such as the Q& A dinner and post race breakfast. Each athlete and spectator receives a kit bag that will include items such as a Tri Travel T-shirt, cap, socks and sponsors product from Power Bar.
Accommodation for the tour is based at the Port Pacific Resort and The Observatory with each days activities beginning from each place.

Proposed itinerary
All week long you will be treated as a VIP on the Tri Travel Tour.
This week in Port Macquarie with Tri Travel you will be…
- driving over the run and riding the course
- having organised swim, ride and run sessions
- having dinner and a seminar with an Ironman champion
- have reserved seating at the carbo and presentation dinners
This year’s tour comprises of two accommodation places in Port Macquarie, the Port Pacific Resort and The Observatory. During the week Tri Travel will pick you up for every activity in front of your hotel. Following is the week’s proposed itinerary with all the activities.
TUESDAY March 31
Today the Tri Travel tour members make their way to Port Macquarie to begin their last week of preparation. Most of you are arriving by car however we will pick up athlete from the Port Macquarie Airport. Training and activities will begin Wednesday morning.
WEDNESDAY April 1
7:30am:Swim Course Orientation
An early morning look at the swim course step by step with the Tri Travel team including one of Tri Travel’s professional athletes.
10:30am: Shopping
The Tri Travel bus will begin pick-ups at 10:30am from the front of your accommodation to take you shopping to get your groceries for the week.
1:00pm: Lunch and Seminar
A professional athlete will join you for a bite to eat and a run down on what to expect from the course in Port Macquarie.
*Note: Tri Travel will take you to the Panthers club to register for the Ironman, please bring photo ID.
THURSDAY April 2
7:00am: Ride over part of the course
Tri Travel will escort a leisurely ride looking at part of the bike course.
2:00pm: Course Orientation
Tri Travel will drive you over the course, pointing out the key areas.
*Note: Tri Travel will take you to the Panthers club to register for the Ironman, please bring photo ID.
5:00pm: Light Run
Pick-ups in the bus will begin at 5:00pm and take you to the flat, quiet area along the beach. It’s nice quiet run away from town.
FRIDAY April 3
7:15am: Official Swim Training Session
Pick-ups will begin at 7:15am and today Tri Travel will lead a swim over part of the course
5:30pm: Carbo Party
Tri Travel will pick you up at 5:30pm for the Carbo Party and take you to the designated table for the Tri Travel team.
SATURDAY April 4
8:15am: Official Swim Training Sessions
Pick-ups will begin at 8:15am and today Tri Travel will lead a swim over part of the course
9:30am: Competitor Briefing
Compulsory Pre-Race Competitor Briefing at the Function Marquee, Ironman Village, Westport Park straight after swim training.
2:00pm: Bike Check-in
Competitors are to ride their bikes to the bike check-in at around 2:00pm and the Tri Travel bus will be on hand at 3:00pm to take you back home.
SUNDAY April 5
4:45am -Race Morning pick-ups
Pick-ups will begin at 4:45am and take you to the race start. Please let Marcus know during the week if you are going to be making your way down to the start on your own.

MONDAY April 6
8:45am: Breakfast with Chris Legh at The Observatory
Pick-ups begin at 8:45am and you will be taken to The Observatory for breakfast and to chat about the events of the previous day.
10:00am: The Hawaii qualification process
11:00am: The roll down ceremony for Hawaii slots
5:30pm –Presentation
Pick-ups begin at 5:30pm to take you to the Presentation Party where you will be seated in a designated area for The Tri Travel team. It’s time to party – you’ve earned it!
